| "Animals never belong to us, they pass through our lives on journeys of their own. They ask no more of us than that we love them and let them go on in dignity and peace. Animals come and go with lessons to learn and lessons to teach. So, we love them and learn. We accept the pain of their going as we received the joy of their coming. All of it is a blessing." ~Shirley Thayer
Here we pay tribute to 4-legged sweethearts of the past. Treasured and still missed, we celebrate their lives, honored to have been touched by their grace, wisdom and love.

CONSIDER ELDER PETS, PLEASE
"I've raised our dogs from puppyhood on many occasions - forget it! Give me the settled, laid back, all together, well-mannered, grateful, devoted, loving ADULT who knows what life is all about, who respects my authority, defends my property instead of chewing it to pieces, is grateful for everything I do, and gives so much in return. He may not be around as long as a young one. No matter. The quality of love he gives makes each day a special blessing. While the young dogs are running the fence, barking, digging, chewing, playing, ignoring my call for silence, the older dogs stand quietly at my side, content just to be with me. Oh yes, I'll miss them when God decides he needs them more than I do, but the memories and the lessons in love and devotion they are teaching me will live forever." ~Author Unknown

| Eskie Charmin Appears in Dog Fancy
When Dog Fancy decided to do an article on senior dogs, they found Eskie Charmin's story on the Senior Dogs Project web site. They contacted Charmin's mom and featured this photo and notes in their May 1999 issue: "Love extended her life," Charmin's mom says. "She had to give it as much as receive it to be happy. Dogs (indeed all pets) extend our lives if the truth be known." We commend Ellen Kanner, the author of "Turn Back Time", for the compassion expressed and information presented in her article.
